Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program that offers scholarships up to Pre-Ph.D level to select students seeking courses and research careers in science.

KVPY is funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India, aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences.
It offers scholarship and contingency grants up to the pre-Ph.D. level to selected students.

The students who qualify KVPY Exam are eligible for the fellowship as well as admissions into institutes like IISC or IISER based on additional criteria.
This exams has 3 Streams : SA (Class 11), SX (Class 12), and SB (First year BSc).
For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test (75%) and interview marks (25%) are considered.

The students who qualify KVPY Exam are eligible for the fellowship. The students receive fellowship from 1st year onwards of their graduation. The KVPY fellows receive Rs.5000 monthly fellowship from 1st to 3rd year of B.Sc/ B.Stat/ B.S./ B.Maths/ Integrated M.S./M.Sc and an annual contingency grant of Rs.20,000. After three years the fellowship is enhanced to Rs.7,000 per month during M.Sc/4th and 5th year of Integrated M.S./M.Sc and an annual contingency grant of Rs. 28,000.

ELIGIBILITY For KVPY entrance exam :

Nationality : Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for KVPY exam.

Stream SA : Candidates who enrolled themselves in Class 11th (science stream) must apply for this exam.
Minimum Marks: Candidates must pass class 10th with Mathematics & Science subjects with minimum 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD).

Stream SX : Qualifying Exam: Candidates who have taken admission in class 12th (science subjects) can apply.
Minimum Marks : Candidates must score minimum 60% (50% for SC/ST/PwD) in Mathematics and Science subjects (PCB) in Class 12th. Candidates also have to obtain at least 75% (65% in case of SC/ST/PwD) in class 10th.

Stream SB : Qualifying Exam: Candidates who enrolled in 1st year of the UG programme in Basic Science (Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics & Biology) - B.Sc/BS/B.Math./B.Stat./MS/Int. M.Sc) can apply for this exam.
Minimum Marks: Candidates must score at least 60% (50% in case of SC/ST/PwD category) in 10+2 examination. In the first year of their final exam in B.Sc/BS/B.Math./B.Stat./MS/Int. M.Sc students must secure 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD).



Aptitude Test : Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, will be called for aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 3rd November 2019.

Interview : Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

The admit card of KVPY 2019 will be available at the official website only.
Only those candidates who have successfully registered for the exam will be issued the admit card of KVPY.
Before downloading the document, candidates must cross-check the details mentioned on it
Candidates are advised to download the admit card at least three days prior to the exam.

HOW TO APPLY  For KVPY : Application for KVPY-2019 must be done online only.

Candidates can apply online only from 8/07/2019 to 20/08/2019 and no other mode of application will be accepted.

Candidates have to visit the KVPY application portal, click on the option APPLY ONLINE which will open a new screen.

There are three steps to complete your application successfully.
    Step 1. Registration
    Step 2. Filling personal and academic details, choosing test centres and uploading photo, signature and other certificates, as applicable.
    Step 3. Payment of application fees.

PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEES (THROUGH ONLINE MODE) : The application form is integrated with the payment gateway and the payment process can be completed by following the instructions. The  payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets.
