The KVPY Aptitude test will now be held on 9th January 2022.

The Honourable High Court of Madras, Madurai bench stayed the KVPY Aptitude Test scheduled on November 07, 2021. The KVPY Aptitude Test will not be held on November 07, 2021.  Further updates will be available on the website.

The KVPY fellowship is available to the students who have enrolled as regular students of UG Program in Basic Science course in any College/Institution of a University recognized in India.

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PURSUING BASIC SCIENCE COURSES AND CAREER IN RESEARCH

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program that offers scholarships up to Pre-Ph.D level to select students seeking courses and research careers in science.

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (Rs.5,000/- Rs.7,000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equivalent to four months fellowship  per annum) to students studying in 1st year  program in basic science course such as  B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.  Selection to the program takes into account the academic excellence and skills to take up research career in Basic Sciences

The students who qualify KVPY Exam are eligible for the fellowship as well as admissions into institutes like IISC or IISER based on additional criteria.
This KVPY exams has 3 Streams : SA (Class 11), SX (Class 12), and SB (First year BSc).
For receiving a fellowship, both aptitude test (75%) and interview marks (25%) are considered.

KVPY ELIGIBILITY:

Nationality : Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for KVPY exam.

KVPY Stream SA : Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed X Standard Board Examination and eligible to enroll in XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021-22, are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of XI class once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow.

Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard /(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for the National Science Camp (Vijyoshi) and their travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.

KVPY Stream SX : Students enrolled in XII Standard / (+2) (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021–22 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) for the session 2022–23  during the academic year having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The Fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) in the academic year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard/(+2) Board Examination.

KVPY Stream SB : Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, as one-time measure, students who have passed XII Board Examination and eligible to enroll  in the 1st year of B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. during the academic year 2021–22 are eligible to appear for the aptitude test. The student should produce a study certificate of 1st year B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. once they are selected as a provisional KVPY fellow.

Moreover, the fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join or have joined for an under graduate course in Basic Science(B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) in the academic year 2021-22 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in 1styear of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.  

Empowerment initiative in the KVPY Fellowship Program:  

I For students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe:- A certain number of fellowships exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the  various streams as stated above will be operated.

II For Persons With Disabilities:- A certain number of fellowships under various streams as stated above will be operated for deserving Persons With Disabilities-Physically and Visually challenged students.

KVPY SELECTION PROCEDURE :

KVPY Aptitude Test : Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, will be called for aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country on Sunday, the 7th November 2021.

KVPY Interview : Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

KVPY ADMIT CARD 2021:
The admit card of KVPY 2021 will be available at the official website only.
Only those candidates who have successfully registered for the exam will be issued the admit card of KVPY.
Before downloading the document, candidates must cross-check the details mentioned on it
Candidates are advised to download the admit card at least three days prior to the exam.

Students may download the admit card for the aptitude test from the website from the second week of November 2021

HOW TO APPLY KVPY Application Form: Application for KVPY-2021 must be done online only.

Students may apply Online at http://www.kvpy.iisc.ernet.in by clearly indicating the stream (i.e., SA/SX/SB).

Candidates can apply online only from 12/07/2021 to 25/08/2021 and no other mode of application will be accepted.

Candidates have to visit the KVPY application portal, click on the option APPLY ONLINE which will open a new screen.

There are three steps to complete your KVPY application successfully.
    Step 1. Registration
    Step 2. Filling personal and academic details, choosing test centres and uploading photo, signature and other certificates, as applicable.
    Step 3. Payment of application fees.

KVPY APPLICATION FEE / INTIMATION CHARGES (NON REFUNDABLE) [PAYMENT OF FEE ONLINE: 12/07/2021 to 25/08/2021 :

For SC/ST/PWD : Rs.625 (Bank Charges extra)

PAYMENT OF KVPY APPLICATION FEES (THROUGH ONLINE MODE) : The KVPY application form is integrated with the payment gateway and the payment process can be completed by following the instructions. The  payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets.
